OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANAGEMNT OF PRESSURIZED IRRIGATION SYSTEMS CONTROL HEAD.
Abstract: Nine sites of control head were selected evaluated and compared with standard specifications one. Data had been recorded for period six months from first January to end of June 2005.Results may be summarized as follows:
1- Components of control head
- Foot , pumping unit, shut-off valve, media filters, and screen filters recorded a percent of 100%., control panel and air valve recorded 77.8%, fertilizer unit recorded percent 55.6%, four component were water flow meter, , pressure regulator, manometers, media specifications and screen recorded percent 11.0%, 22.2%, 40.7, 48.0 % and 55.5 % respectively. The general mean for total components in the different sites recorded 65.96 %.
2-Operation procedures
- Suction pipe inlet depth in water recorded 53.3 %, removal efficiency suspended solids through media filter and screen filters recorded 58.9 % and 39.2 % respectively.
- The head losses through media filters and screen filters recorded 50.8 % and 33.8% at starting operation. At end filtration processes and starting backwashing the head losses through media filters and screen filters recorded same percent 42.0 compared with standard site. Pump discharge and efficiency recorded same percent ratio 72.8 % and media size recorded 63.9 %
3- Maintenance processes -Maintenance processes such as suction strainer cleaning, lubrication, bind, media flushing out filters, screen flushing out filters, elect cycles protect test, bearing maintenance and impeller clearance calibration recorded low percent 48.0%, 56.5% 36.0% 46.3 %, 63.0%, 45.4%, 69.4 % and 11.0 % respectively. So it is important planned operation and maintenance program for control head
-There were closed relation between operation parameters, and maintenance process that affected on the control head efficiencies.
