Aero-Dynamic characteristics for Different Varieties of some Cereal Grains

Abstract: A study was carried out to determine terminal velocity, drag coefficient and Reynold's number at different levels of grain moisture contents for different varieties of rice, corn, wheat and barely. The results showed that, both terminal velocity and Reynold's number were increased with the increase of grain moisture content for rice, corn, wheat and barely. The recorded values of terminal velocity were ranged from (6.105 to 7.560), (9.044 to 10.650), (8.494 to 9.576) and (6.750 to 7.310) m/sec respectively. While the corresponded values for Reynold's number were ranged from (1412.79 to 1890.72), (4606.39 to 7177.66), (2195.30 to 2802.98) and (2130.84 to 2350.20) respectively. On the other hand, the recorded values for drag coefficient were ranged from (0.4169 to 0.5546), (0.5182 to 0.9180), (0.4325 to 0.4919) and (0.4984 to 0.5995) respectively. Meanwhile, a mathematic relationships were developed to relate the change in grain moisture content of the studied varieties of each crop with the obtained values of terminal velocity, drag coefficient and Reynold's number. The obtained relationships were, exponential for terminal velocity and linear for both of drag coefficient and Reynold's number.
