Clinical and Laboratory Studies on Septic Foci and Allied Syndromes in Calves

Abstract: ABSTRACT:
The problem of sepsis in calves is a common disease condition. It may lead to widespread abscessation all over the body and deaths. The abscesses may be due to metastasis from a primary focus to elsewhere in the body. An appreciable number of diseased calves may succumb to death due merely to this condition due to shock.
A bi-pronged study was done in slaughter house about the incidence of ab¬scesses and their causative agents. The other study was done on clinical cases suffering from either fever or abscesses. The causative agents in ei¬ther cases was predominantly Eschershia coli (E. coli) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) . Strept. pyogens , Proteus and Pseudomonas were iso¬lated from minor cases.
