Assessment of a mycobacterium Bovis BCG 45/47-Kilodalton antigen complex for diagnosis of

Abstract: The potential value of 45/47-KDA secreted protein from M.bovis (BCG) has been assessed using ELISA and skin reactivity test for diagnosis of tuberculosis.
Skin reactively test was done using 45/47 - KDA complex antigen on guinea pigs sensitized with Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (M.bovis and M.tuberculosis)and atypical mycobacteria (M.Kansasii, M.avium and M.fortitum) in comparison with bovine PPD tuberculin. The result of skin reactivity test showed that the 45/47-KDA antigen was more specific than bovine PPD tuberculin.
ELISA test was performed on buffalo sera tested before by skin reactivity test with human PPD tuberculin, slaughtered and confirmed bacteriologically (positive to M.bovis isolation). The statistical analysis of ELISA test cleared that, the accuracy indexes were 86.9% and 80.4%, the sensitivity were 80.0% and 73.3% the specificity were 100.0% and 95.6% and the negative perdicitve values (NPV) were 72.7% and 65.2% to 45/47-kda and bovine PPD antigens, respectively.
It was concluded that the 45/47-kDa a complex antigen was more efficient than bovine tuberculin for detection of tuberculosis through skin reactively test or serological by ELISA test for minimizing non-specific reaction in diagnosis of tuberculosis.
