Preparation and evaluation of inactivated respiratory syncytial virus vaccine

Abstract: This study aimed to prepare an inactivated bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) vaccine. The virus was propagated in different available types of tissue culture. The vaccine was prepared using Madin Darby Bovine Kidney cell line (MDBK) which produced high titer reached to 107 TCID50/0.1ml. BRSV aws inactivated by using Binary ethyleneamine at a concentration of 1% of 0.1ml. Aluminium hydroxide gel was used as an adjuvant in a concentration of 10%.
Prepared BRSV vaccine was proven to be safe after being inoculated in mice and guinea-pigs, and safety tested calves remained well all over the experiment. Challenge test was conducted 21 days post-vaccination and it proved potency of the vaccine.
Concerning seroconversion, the vaccinated calves were serologically protected fro six months post-vaccination
