Rapid Detection of Equine Herpes virus(EHV-1) from infected Tissues using Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

Abstract: The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was applied to detect the local strain of EHV-1 from aborted foetal tissues. Specific forward and reverse primers were selected to amplify a specific region of the glycoprotein H (gH) of EHV-1, these specific primers succeeded to amplify DNA fragment about 636 bp in size from specific pathogen free (SPF). Embryonated chicken eggs infected through the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) with local isolate of EHV-1, infected baby Hamster kidney cell (BHK-21)with the same virus as well as suspected EHV-1 aborted foetal tissues.
