Protein profile and dna fingerprinting for comparison of some fowl cholera pasteurella multocida locally isolated serotypes with standard serovars.

Abstract: In this study characterization of Pasteurella multocida field isolates recovered from major outbreaks of fowl cholera disease was done by using protein profile and DNA fingerprinting pattern analysis. Comparison was made with reference standard of the same serotype.
We concluded that our Egyptian field isolates of Pasteurella multocida hand its own characteristic protein profile and only one strain (Tahrir) is compatible with the cu vaccinal strain. Computer analysis of restriction endonucleease pattern (REP) revealed that each of the standard stain and 4 of the local strains hand unique REP with distinct differences. Results also revealed that the specificity of the individual protein profile and REP are sufficient to make these techniques useful for epidemiological study and was put in consideration during the selection of local isolates for the preparation of the Egyptian polyvalent vaccine.
