Studies on viruses associated with calf diarhea in egypt

Abstract: 1-Faecal samples collected from 30 calves with diarrhea from different localities were subjected to isonlation.
2-Isoiation carried out on the embryonic bovine kidney . cell cultures resulted in the recovery of 7 viral agent.
3-Susceptibility of these viral agents to the cell line tissue culture was performed using chick embryo cell culture (CER).
4-Characterization of the isolates using PH stability ether and chloroform sensitivity test, haemadsorption test revealed that .
-Five viral agent were stable in PH3, resistant to ether and chlorofm , no haemadsorption was occurred.
-Two viral agents were labile in PH3, Sensitive to ether and chloroform, haemadsorption to the guinea pig erythocytes was occur.
5– identification of the viral agents by serum neutralization test using refernce hyperimmune serum revealed :-

- Two strains enterovirus (type A and G).
- One strain adenovirus -2.
- One strain adenovirus -3.
- One strain adenovirus -6.
- Two strain parainfuenze -3.
Consulting the available literature it seems teat the isolation of enterovirus Aand the adeno – virus 2 and 6 is first record in Egypt .
6- The pathogenicity of isolates to laboratory animals was carried out using suckling and adult mice and no symptom or deaths were appeared.
7- Detection of antibodies against adeno -3, . entero type A, Parainfluenza – 3 viruses in the tested sera of bovines obtained from different localities in Egypt revealed that 63.5% , 37.7% and 57.1 % were found positive to enterovirus , adenovirus and PI-3 respectively.
