Immunological studies on sheep vaccinated with haemorrhagic septicaemia and sheep pox vaccines at the same time

Abstract: In this study, the immune response of sheep to simultaneous vaccination against haemorhagic septicaemia and sheep pox was conducted. Serological response to sheep pox vaccine using serum neutralization test and ELISA was statistically similar in the group vaccinated with sheep pox vaccine alone or simultaneously with haemorrhagic septicaemia vaccine. While, the serological response to haemorrhagic septiceamia alone or in combination with sheep pox than the control groups. Challenge test results indicated that simultaneous vaccination with sheep pox and haemorrhagic septicaemia vaccines did not result in immunological interfernce but it induced immunopotentiation to haemorrhagic septicaemia vaccine. Also, the passive immunization of mice using the immune sera of each group after its challenge with virulent P.multocida showed that good protection was obtained in the sheep vaccinated with haemorrhagic septicaemia alone or simultaneously with sheep pox vaccine
