Compartive studies on the immune response of cattle to cell culture Rinderpest vaccine prepared on Bovine Kidney (BK) and African Green Monkey (vero)vell culutres.

Abstract: Two groups of cattle; about 8 months of age; were vaccinated with cell culture rinderpest vaccine. The first group was vaccinated with the vaccine prepared in bovine Kidney cell ulture (BK) while the second group was vaccinated with the vaccine prepared on the African green monkey kidney cell line (VERO). The results of serum neutralization test showed that rinderpest neutralizing antibodies were detected in the two groups from the second week post vaccination and reached their beakby the third week.
Using the electrphoresis, it was found that gama globulin was increased in vaccinated animals in both groups while the total protein did not affected. This increase could be attributed to the formation of antibodies which are composed mainly from gama globulin. This increase was similar in the two groups.
It could be concluded that the type of cell culture used for preparation of the rinderpest cell culture vaccine did not affect the immune response of vaccinated cattle where neither the antibody tite nor the gama globulin percentage were affected.
