ٍٍSero - survey of African horse sickness in Egypt during 1997-1999

Abstract: Serological investigations of 483 horse serum samples from 22 governorates (that not vaccinated since 1984) and 100 horse serum samples from four governorates ( that not vaccinated since 1994) proved the occurrence of African horse sickness (AHS) antibodies with variable percentages ( complement fixing antibodies 13%, 7.4% and ELISA antibodies 13% ,6.7% ) on upper and lower Egypt of non vaccinated governorates since 1984 , respectively . while that of non vaccinated governorates since 1994 show 2% complement fixing antibodies and non ELISA antibodies. Low percentages of neutralizing antibodies were detected in sera of equine from non vaccinated governorates since 1984 and detectable percentages were in sera of horses from non vaccinated governorates since 1994.
