Field Application of the new Prepared Local Bivalent FMD vaccine in El- Wady El-Gedeed Governorate

Abstract: On hundred balady cattle in a private farm in EL-Wady El- Gedeed governorate were screened to investigate the presence of FMD type O1 / 3/1993 and A/ Egypt/1/2006 antibodies using serum neutralization test & ELISA. The mean neutralizing antibody titer against type O1 ranged between 0.45 Log10-1.05 Log10 all animals were free from antibodies to type A. Non structural protein 3 ABC ELISA were used to ensure animals infected of free from FMDV infection. Animals were vaccinated with inactivated bivalent FMD vaccine (containing FMD O1 /3/1993 and A/Egypt/ 1/2006) the detected neutralizing antibody indices against type O1 were ranged between 1.8 Log10 -2.1 Log10 and 1.5 Log10 against type A. Animals were vaccinated wit booster dose after one month. It was noticed that the levels of FMD antibodies either to type O1 or type A/Egypt were highly immunized within one month post the booster dose of vaccination reached to 3.0 Log10 and 2.7 Log10 for type O1 and type A respectively. All vaccinated animals having a protective antibody titre against FMD for up to 5 months post re-vaccination. So, from this study we found that the booster dose of local bivalent FMD vaccine induces better immune response that may be of prolonged duration of immunity.
