The effect of simultaneous vaccination with sheep pox vaccine and killed Brucella meltensis Rev-1 vaccine on the immune status of sheep

Abstract: On applying serology using serum neutralization test (SNT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for sheep pox vaccine and Rose Bengal test (RBT) and standard tube agglutination test (TAT) for inactivated Br.melitensis Rev.1 vaccine. A clear positive change in the humoral immune response was observed in sheep group immunized simultaneously with inactivated Brucella vaccine and sheep pox vaccine rather than sheep groups immunized with sheep pox vaccine or inactivated Brucella vaccine alone. Standard tube agglutination test (TAT) and Rose Bengal test (RBT) showed higher antibody titers at the 4th week of vaccination in sheep group vaccinated with Brucella and sheep pox vaccine than sheep group vaccinated with Brucella vaccine alone. Serum neutralization test (SNT) and ELISA showed protective titer in simultaneously vaccinated group, slightly higher titre in sheep pox vaccinated group. Hence, simultaneous vaccination with inactivated Brucella meltensis Rev.1 vaccine and live attenuated tissue culture sheep pox vaccine could be recommended.
