Trials for preparation of oil adjuvant combined vaccine against gumboro and fowl cholera diseases

Abstract: Inactivated infetious bursal disease virus (IBDV)and p.multocida (PM) were incorporated into water in oil emulsion vaccines alone (monovalent) or as in combined (bivalent) vaccine. Immunological response to the new bivalent vaccine was evaluated by injecting susceptible chickens with either bivalent or monovalent vaccine. Results revealed that humoral and cellular immunity with the new bivalent vaccine were never inferior to those obtained with the monovalent ones. Even, IBDV and P.multocida antibody responses were detected and peaked earlier in bivalent vaccinates than in monovalent ones. There were no practical differences in the percentage and duartion of teh protective immunity induced with both vaccine upon challenge with virulent IBDV or PM antigen. The bivalent (Gumboro-fowl cholera) inactivated vaccine was safe, immunogenic and produced satisfactory dual protection against both IBDV and p.multocida
