Trials for preparation of unactivated brucella abortus strain 45/20 vaccine using different adjuvants

Abstract: In the present study, killed brucella abortus 45/20 vaccine was prepared using oil, hydro- gel and alum- gel as adjuvants. The oil was added to the vaccine preparation at the ratios of 1:1, 4:1 and 6:1 vaccination of guinea pigs with such preparations resulted in protection percentages of 50, 80 and 89 respectively. Both of he hydro-gel (imported ) and alum-gel (local prepared) were added to the vaccine preparations at the ratio of 1:4 and resulted in protection percentage of 75 and 60 respectively in vaccinated guinea pigs. It could be concluded that the killed brucella abortus 45/20 hydro-gel vaccine is safe, potent and easy to inject and to protect animals instead of the oil vaccine.
