Effect of Aflatoxin in duck ration on the immune response of ducklings to duck virus hepatitis and duck virus enteritis (Duck plague) vaccines

Abstract: Four groups of ducklings were vaccinated with duck viral hepatits (DVH) and duck virus enteritis (duck plague DP) living attenuated vaccines. These groups were fed on a ration containing aflatoxins one week before vaccination, at the same time of vaccination and one week post vaccination while the 4th group was fed on healthy ration. Immune response of ducklings were estimated serologically by serum neutralization test (SNT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) . The results proved that aflatoxin B1 decrease the immune response of ducklings especially in those received the toxins before vaccination recorded the lowest immune level. Ducklings which received toxin at the same time of vaccination. The highest immune levels were obtained in ducklings receiving the vaccination with feeding on healthy ration.
