Preparation of a combined inactivated vaccine against vaccine against duck plague and duck cholera disease

Abstract: Immunogenicity of a locally prepared combined inactivated oil emulsified duck plague-duck cholera (DP-DC) vaccine was evaluated in white pekin ducklings. the immune rsponse against monovalent duck plague, duck cholera (Duck pasteurellosis) and combined (DP-DC) vaccines as meeasured by ELISA, serum neutralization test (SNT)and indirect haemagglutination test revealed no subtantial differences with respect to the protective values between the monovalent and combined vaccine. the results of teh cell mediated immune response as evaluated by the lymphocyte blastogenisis proved that monovalent and combined vaccines have the ability to induce cellular immunity in ducklings. The results of challenge test showed that vaccinated ducklngs could be effectively immunized with combined DP-DC vaccine against challenge with virulent duck plague virus and P,multocida. In conclusion, this locally prepared combined inactivatd vaccine is safe, potent and protect ducklings against duck plague and duck cholera infection.
