Effect of different plant and mineral oil adjuvants on the physical characters and immunological response of oily inactivated newcastle disease vaccine

Abstract: Four types of inactivated Newcastle oily adjuvenated vaccines were prepared using two mineral oils (paraffin oil and Montanoide ISA5 oil) and two plant oils (Sunflowers oil and Maize oil). The physical characters as well as the immunological response of the prepared vaccines were studied. The obtained revealed that vaccines prepared with mineral oils were more stable and less viscous than those prepared from from plant oils. Serological responses of chicken inoculated with mineral oil adjuvant vaccines revealed higher HI antibody titres in comparison to those vaccinated with plant oil adjuvant vaccines. These results were assured after the challenge test using the velogenic viscerotropic Newcastle disease virus (VVNDV).
