The Production and Evaluation of a Standard Diagnostic Rinderpest Hyperimmune Serum Prepared from Reference Antigen

Abstract: Standard operating procedures and good laboratory practices were followed to produce a standardized lapinized hyperimmune rinderpest serum in a lyophilized form. The ultimate objective was to avail an essential biological product which is an inidispensable tool for undergoing an accurate rapid and confirmed laboratory diagnosis of a highly devastating disease that is rinderpest. Comparative evaluations revealed the same standard level of a reference preparation. The strategy of keeping a developing country's own skills and tools should be of utmost concern, in a rapidly changing world towards specific policies like those of GATT and intellectual property rights.
