Potentiation of level of the immune response to peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccine in sheep through the use of beta-1,3-glucan
|
|
Abstract: The polysaccharide Beta-1,3-glucan, reputable as an immunostimulant, was experimented in sheep inoculated with the attenuated PPR vaccine. This material was proven safe and non toxic to vero cells and had no deleterious effect on the conventional TCID50 titers of the PPR virus vaccine. Either incorporated in the PPR attenuated vaccine or inoculated simultaneously, beta-1,3-glucan was found to be functioning in inducing significant enhancement and exaltation of the provoked neutralizing antibody response in inoculated susceptible sheep. This material was found to stimulate the existing blood protein levels to higher values, when inoculated alone in sheep. The study presented could be considered as an additional proof for beta-1,3-glucan as an enhancer and immunostimulant
