Trials for production of sheep and goat pox allergen

Abstract: Two strains of sheep pox virus, the vaccinal Kenyan strain and the virulent local strain were used for production of allergen to be used as a diagnostic reagent for the immune status of the animals against sheep and goat pox diseases, both strains were propagated in T.C. till reaching the highest titre which was 106.4 TCID50/ml for vaccinal strain after 5 passages and 105.7 TCID50/ml for virulent strain after 7 passages. Inactivation was done using heat or either treatment and estimation of total viral protein for both products before and after treatment was done which was relatively high in the virulent one. The allergic reaction was first appeared after 24 hours in the previously sensitized animals (vaccinated) and being diagnostic on the 3rd day and gradually disappeared while in susceptible animals no reaction appeared
