Studies on the simultaneous vacination of cattle with the inactivated respiratory viral disease pneumo-3 and bovine ephemermal fecer vaccines.

Abstract: During the present work, a trial of simultaneous vaccination of cattle was carried out against viral diseases and bovine ephemeral fever. The used vaccines for such purpose were the locally produced inactivated pneumo-3 and bovine ephemeral fever vaccines. Four groups of calves (5 calves /group) were included in this trial where the first group was vaccinated with pneumo-3 vaccine alone and the second group was vaccinated simultaneously with pneumo-3 and bovine ephemeral fever vaccine while the third group was vaccinated with bovine ephemeral fever vaccine only. The fourth group was kept as non vaccinated control. Serum neutralization test was carried out on serum samples obtained from such animals before vaccination on the 2nd and 6th week and 3rd and 4th month post vaccination. The test was carried out against local BVD "Iman strain "IBR" Abo Hammad strain and PI-3 "strain 45 propagated in MDBK cell cultures and BEF "BEFV/Abbassia /2000" strain adapted on BHK21 cell culture. The test revealed that there was no any antagonizing effect between the vaccine viral contents where there was a similarity between the levels of induced antibodies by single and simultaneous vaccination.
