Studies of artificial insemination in turkey.

Abstract: The purpose of this work was to study 1) the effect of monthly variation on some productive characters and semen physical characteristics of Bronze and Nicholas turkey, 2) compare different semen diluents, duration''s and methods of storage semen on fertility and hatchability of Bronze and Nicholas eggs. The results obtained were, Mean body weight was decreased in bronze and Nicholas with progress of season. Bronze was higher than Nicholas in egg number produced and the differences were significant (P<0.05). Mean of semen volume, sperm concentration, motility and live sperm% were higher in Nicholas than Bronze. And highest values were observed in January then decreased gradually during February and March. Fertility % for turkey eggs were decreased gradually along the season production, but the differences were not significant. The highest percent of fertility was obtained with Ringer''s solution, followed by Tyrod, skim milk, carbondioxid, and the lowest percent was obtained with CoCoNut diluter and glycerol. Semen storage for 24 hr due to decreased fertility% and large decreased was obtained when semen storage for 7 day''s.
