Activity of new synthesized organo cyanide on some soil borne-pathogens

Abstract: Three locally different synthesized (A) 2- amino- 4 -methyl - 4 - (2-methyl prop -1- enyl) pent -1- ene. 1,1,3,5,5 penta carbonitrile, (B) 2-cyanoacetohydrazide and (C) 2- cyanoacetamide. Compound (A) was prepared as flowable formulation contained 22.5% wt./v. active ingredient while (B) and (C) were prepared as soluble powder formulations contained 90% (wt./wt.) active ingredient in two different constituents as B1, B2 and C1, C2. The fungicidal effect of these compounds were tested against some soil borne fungi e.g. F. oxysporum, R. solani and S. rolfsii at different concentrations to evaluate the EC50 value for each one in the laboratory. The second experiment was carried out to evaluate the fungicidal efficiency of the tested compounds under greenhouse conditions against damping off disease for cotton seedlings when they were applied as seed treatment. In vitro experiment showed that the tested fungi were different susceptible to these compounds. F. oxysporum was the highest response to the A and C2 compounds. While, R. solani was the most sensitive to compound C1 compared with the other two fungi F. oxysporum and S. rolfsii. However, S. rolfsii was the highest response to B1 and B2 compounds. Greenhouse experiment showed that the treatment of cottonseeds with those compounds gave different protection against damping off disease.
