PRODUCTIVE AND ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF FORAGE QUALITY OF MAIZE HYBRID 324 AS INFLUENCED BY DIFFERENT SOURCES AND RATES OF SULFUR SALINE SOIL CONDITIONS

Abstract: A study was conducted in El- Rowad Village, Sahl El- Hussinia, El - Sharkia Governorate, Egypt, to evaluate the productivity, quality and economic return for Hybrid maize 324 which were treated by different sources and rates of sulfur i.e. agriculture sulfur, calcium sulphat and gypsum at (0, 4 and 8 ton /fed for each source) during two successive summer seasons of 2016 and 2017, in addition to some soil properties under saline soil conditions. Moreover, production costs and net profit were included. Three way cross (TWC 324 white) used in this investigation, which was evaluated in split plot design with six replicates. The obtained results showed high increasing, concerning all forage characteristics under high rate of agriculture sulfur compared to other treatments. High rate of agriculture sulfur significantly led to raising crude protein (CP) %, digestible crude protein DCP (%) and total digestible nutrient TDN (%) content in fodder maize hybrid 324 to contrast with other treatments and rates. Meanwhile, the soils haven’t any treatment that produced the highest crude fiber % and carbohydrates %. On the other hand the treatments were increased under gypsum. Regarding to soil properties and NPK contents, it could be concluded that application of 0.80 ton/fed of agriculture sulfur led to decreasing pH (1:2.5) and EC (dsm-1) and increasing contents of NPK (mg kg-1). The highest net return for invested pound L.E. in producing forage maize hybrid and straw yield can be achieved with application of 0.8 ton/fed of agriculture sulfur. Overall, calculation cost and economic return we could recommend that using agriculture sulfur at rate 0.8 ton per fed for both production of forage maize hybrid or straw. Furthermore the improving soil properties as well as highest economic return be originated from
