ECONOMIC RETURN OF USING SILAGE OF CORN WITH COBS AND SOME FIELD CROPS RESIDUES AS UNCONVENTIONAL FORGES

Abstract: The study aimed to estimate the economic and environmental return of the techniques of maximizing the utilization of agricultural crop residues under the study through producing silage as one of the forges that have high nutritional value and contributes to the developing of livestock to advance the agricultural development by adopting of this modern technology. Statistical analysis such as Simple regression approach and some economic analysis methods such as revenue / cost ratio and net return of invested pound were used. The study showed that the production of silage from maize with the cobs achieves a net profit per ton estimated at 450 pounds, and that every pound invested in the production of silage achieved a net return of about 2.3 pounds. Producing silage from corn stalks recorded net profit per ton estimated at 195 pounds and each pound invested in silage production gave a net return of about 0.95 pounds.Net return of producing silage from rice straw reached 175 pounds per ton and every pound invested in silage production gave net return being 1 pounds. Production of silage from the thrones of sugar beet recorded net profit per ton estimated at 290 pounds, and each invested pound net return of 1.80.
The study recommends generalizing the use of modern agricultural techniques for treating and recycling of plant wastes as an effective alternative to the current methods of disposal of agricultural wastes, through using them in producing animal forges in the form of silage especially silage from corn with cobs and beet thrones silage compared to rice straw silage and corn stalks because of its positive effects to increase farmer income , Besides achieving national benefit from the production of silage for the waste under study as well as the use of plant residues to improve the agricultural sector and reduce environmental pollution.
