Effect of some legumes on hypercholesterolemia in rats

Abstract: This work was undertaken to compare between the effect of diets containing legumes such as bitter lupin , white lupin and fenugreek seeds on hypercholesterolemia rats .
Diets of bitter lupin and fenugreek seeds were more potent to lower raised serum cholesterol level than diet white lupin. Also, they were the best to decrease the serum LDL, VLDL- cholesterol and triacylglycerol, while it increased the HDL- cholesterol.

In conclusion, it is recommended to utilize these legumes to prepare healthy diets to protect against hypercholesterolemia.
