Effect of Moisture Content on Specific Heat of Some Cereal Crops

Abstract: The specific heat for different varieties of rice, corn, wheat and barely was determined at five different levels of grain moisture content. The results show that, specific heat was increased with the increase of grain moisture content. The obtained specific heat was ranged from 1.731 to 3.375 kJ/kg.°C for rice, 2.595 to 3.449 kJ/kg.°C for corn, 2.336 to 2.831 kJ/kg.°C for wheat and 2.263 to 3.134 kJ/kg.°C for barely. The regression analysis showed a simple linear relationship between the increase in grain moisture content and the specific heat. The regression parameters are presented for different varieties of each studied crop
