The inhibitory effect of certain herbicides on some fungi causing foliar diseases on Rice

Abstract: The Effect of four herbicides , I .e . propanil , 2,4 – D "satrol" and " Treflan R" at three different concentration ( 25, 50 , and 100 ppm ) on the growth of three different fungi ( Piricularia oryzae , Cochliobolus miyabeanus " Helminthosporinm oryzae " , and Curvularia state of Cochliobolus lunatus ) were studied .
Propanil and "satrol " were in general very effective on the growth of the tested fungi . thus the highest level ( 100 ppm ) of P. oryzae and Curvularia . " treflan R " was moderately active, while 2,4 – D was the least effective . Curvularia was the most affected fungus among the tested fungi followed by H . oryzae and P . oryzae .
Field experiment confirmed the in vitro influence of " satrol " in decreasing the incidence of leaf sports and lesions caused by several fungi . propanil , 2, 4- D , and " treflan R " , however , gave fluctuated effects .
