Influence of single herbicides and herbicide mixture on weed control, yield and yield components of Faba beans (vicia faba L.)

Abstract: Field experiment carried out for two successive seasons indicated that all chemical treatments used herbicides ( except flourodifen) or herbicide mixture ( used as a tank mix or ready formulated) were very effective in reducing dry weight of total weeds significantly compared to the untreated control. The most effective chemical on weed control were topogard ( 35% terbutryn+ 15% terbuthylazine,a ready formulated mixture) at the rate of 1.5 kg./feddan formulated followed by pendinethalin+ linuron ( tank mix) at the rate 1.5L._ 0.5kg./ fed. Formulated and terbutryn at the rate of 1.5kg./fed. Formulated . the dominant weed at the site of application in both seasons were Beta vulgaris,Sonchus oleraceus, Ammi spp. And Convolvulus arvensis. The above three chemical treatments gave adequate controlof total weeds and was significantly equal to the handhoenig treatments . Ammi spp.was the most tolerant weed among the flora present at the site of application, topogard, penimethalin at the site of application , topogard, pendimethalin at 0.2L./fed.formulated and pendimethalin+linuron, however, gave a however, gave a reasonable control of this weed and was significantly similar to the control obtained by hand hoeing in both seasons .
Topogard, linuron mixture with pendimethalin or cyanazine and terbutryn gave the beast yield and yield components in general which were not significantly lower than that obtained by the hand hoeing treatment.
