Partial purification of aflatoxins by simple chemical fractionation

Abstract: A simple chemical fractionation procedure for the partial purification of aflatoxins, produced by a locally isolated Aspergillus flavus strain, was carried out. According to this procedure it was possible to isolated a aflatoxin B free from other interfering compounds. Rf values, U.V. spectrum, and biological activity of this fraction were identical with aflatoxin B. Aflatoxin G was also present in one fraction, but was still contaminated with traces of aflatoxin B and kojie acid.
