Yield of winter crops as affected by cotton herbicide residues

أثير بقايا مبيدات حشائش القطن علي إنتاجية المحاصيل الشتوية التالية

Abstract: Field experiments carried out for two successive seasons indicated that applying the dinitro aniline herbicides trifluraline or dinitramine (I . e . treflan at 1.0 l/ fed . or cobex at 1.5 l / fed . ) to cotton had in general no deleterious residual effect on the yield or yield components of the following winter crops : wheat , flax faba bean and berseem clover .
The residues of these herbicides caused a significant increase in the total forage and seed yield of berseem clover and also the seed yield of flax . The residues of fluometuron used on cotton (I . e ., cotoran at 1.5 kg /fed . ) caused a significant increase in the yield of faba bean and berseem clover . However, these residues adversely affected most of the yield components of wheat and subsequently affected the straw and grain yield . Reducing the application rate of fluometuron to 1.25 kg /fed . ( I . e ., the recommended rate ) or lower should overcome this undesired residual effect .
