Effect of some herbicides and herbicide Mixtures on weed control in soybean under two methods of sowing

Abstract: Three field experiments were conducted at Gemmeiza Research Station during 1985, 1986 and 1987 to obtain effective season – long weed control in soybean with various herbicide combinations . yield losses of soybean due to weed competition were 32.8, 42.6 and 57.8% in 1985, 1986 and 1987 , respectively . The corresponding values of weed fresh weight per feddan were 1.436 , 2.092 and 13.65 tons.
The best seven alternatives to handhoeing in controlling weeds and increasing seed yield were pendimethalin 650 g + linuron 500 g , pendimethalin 650 g + prometryne 600 g , pendimethalin 650 g + terbutryne 600 g , pendimethalin 650 g + metribuzin 140 g , oxadiazon / linuron 500 g / 500 g , oxyfluorfen 180 g and pendimethalin 850 g a . i . / feddan . The increases in seed yield in 1987 treatments were parallel to the increases in different yield components .
Application of studied herbicides before the pre sowing irrigation with wet sowing method or post sowing with dry sowing method can be recommended .
