The Herbicidal Activity of Bromoxynil Herbicides on Bindweed

Abstract: Bindweed (Convolvulus Arvensis, L ) gains the ability to generate from underground rhizomes and roots at the age of about two months after sowing . up to this age these weed plants can be killed easily by brominal at 1.0 – 2.0 L.Feddan . It controlled about 66.0% - 84.0% of bindweed seedlings , respectively. Brominal plus at 1.0 – 2.0 L./feddan killed 50.7 – 76.8% of bindweed seedlings , respectively .
Mature bindweed plants ( more than 2 months old ) must be controlled by a systemic herbicide , i.e. 2,4-D at the rate of 1.0 – 2.0 L./feddan. This controlled about 75.9% - 91.3% of vegetative parts of bindweed plants , respectively , and reduced the number of new regenerated bindweed vegetative parts 5 months after treatment by about 50.9 % - 79.1 % , respectively , compared with the control treatment .
