phenotypic stability for some bread wheat genotypes

Abstract: Thirty bread wheat genotypes were evaluated for phenotypic stability in six environments i.e., three locations ( Gemmiza, Sers El-Laian an Ettai El-Baroud ) and two growing seasons ( 2002/2003) and (2003/2004). The results should that :
• Highly significant differences were highly significant i.s., years x locations , years x genotypes, locations x genotypes and years x locations x genotypes .
• The earliest genotypes were the numbers 2, 8 and 11 for all studied locations and their average.
• The promising varieties Gemmeiza 9, Giza 168 and Sakha 93 had the highest numbers of spikes/m2 in all studied locations and their average .
• Genotype number 4 had the highest number of grains /spika in two locations i.e., Gemmeiza And Sers El-Laian while the variety Gem. 9 behave so in Ettai El-Baroud .
• The results showed that the genotype number 2 had the heaviest grains in all locations and their average .
• The results confirmed that the new varieties Gem.9, Giza 168 and Sakha 93 in addition to Gem. 5 are the best for grain yield (ard/fed) although these varieties did not had the highest values for the traits; number of grains / spike and 1000-grain weight. On the other hand , these results confirmed the importance of number of spikes /m2 in increasing grain yield. Also ,these varieties showed good phenotypic stability .
