Abstract: : A half diallel set of crosses involving six bread wheat parental lines were used to estimate the type and relative amount of genetic variance components for yield and its attributes under two nitrogen fertilizer levels . Nitrogen fertilizer level mean squares were found to be highly significant for all studied traits with mean values of high nitrogen level being higher than those of low nitrogen fertilizer level . Genotypes, parents and the resultants crosses mean squares were found to be highly significant for all traits at the two different nitrogen fertilizer levels and their data . Parents vs. crosses mean squares as indication to the average heterosis overall crosses were found to be highly significant under both nitrogen levels . The interaction of fertilizer levels with genotypes and parents were found to be significant for all studied traits except spike length . Also interaction of crosses with nitrogen level were detected to be significant for all traits studied except, for spike length, number of spikelets/spike and spike grain weight . The GCA/SCA ratio were found to be less than unity indicating that non- additive genetic variance was greater important indetermining the performance of number of spikes/plant, spike length, number of spikelets-spike and 100- grain weight at low nitrogen level, grain yield/plant and biological yield/plant at the two nitrogen levels and combined data . Highly significant positive phenotypic and genotypic correlations were detected between biological yield/plant with each of number of spikes/plant, spike length, number of spikelets/spile, grain weight/spike, 100- grain weight and grain yield/plant at both levels and combined data . The parental line P6 exhibited highly significant extimates of GCS effects for spike length, number of spikelets/spike, spike grain weight, 100 grain weight and biological yield/plant at the two nitrogen levels as will as their combined data proving to be a good combiner in the breeding programme toward developing high yielding genotypes. Four hybrid combinations P2 with both P3 and P6, P1xP4 and P5xP6 exhibited significant desirable SCA effects for grain yield/plant under two nitrogen levels and their combined data.
