The combined results indicated that two hand hoeing was the best treatment for controlling the annual weeds . However , the best chemical treatment , with regards to weed elimination, yield and yield components of maize was Bladex/atrazine ( 2kg/fed.) followed by Primextra ( 1.5 kg/fed) and Gesaprim (0.75 kg/fed) in maize , ear length , ear diameter , ear weight , grain weight /ear and 100-kernel weight were significantly increased with all weed control treatments compared to unweeded check.
