Analysis of Yield Variation in Lentil (Lens Culinaris Medik)

Abstract: ABSTRACT

Correlation and path coefficient analysis at phenotypic and genotypic level were performed on F5 segregants of two lentil ( Lens culinaris Medik ) crosses . Results indicated that seed yield per plant was negatively correlated with time to maturity at phenotypic and genotypic levels in ILL5584 X Preco%cross and phenotypic level in Giza370 x Precoz cross. But negatively correlated in Giza370 x preco% cross with seed protein content . seed yield was also positively correlated with each of branching , pods/plant . seeds/pod . seed weight and biological yield/plant at both level in the two studied crosses . Path coefficient analysis indicated that branching . pods/plant and seeds/pod were the most important characters affecting yield variation in studied material and should be considered in lentil selection programs.
