Compatative toxicity of ertain anticoagulants against roof rat and Norway rat trapped from Giza and Qalubia Governorate, Egypt.,

Abstract: Comparative toxicity of multi-and single dose anticoagulant rodenticides was studied against Roof rat, Rattus rattus and Norway rat Rattus norvegicus which were trapped from Giza and Qalubia governorates. The leathal feeding periods (LFP) recommended by WHO was used as a biological method and the prothrombin time (PT) determination was used as a biochemical confirmation method. Results obtained from the two techniques showed that the multi-dose anticoagulant Coumatetralyl was more effective than Chlorophacinone. Both tested rodent species exhibited high susceptibility levels to single dose anticoagulants Bromadiolone and Difenacoum than multi-dose compounds. On the other hand, roof rat was more tolerant than Norway rat for all tested compounds. Also, results indicated that animals of both species that trapped from Qalubia governorate show more susceptible than those caught from Giza governorate.
