Ecological and morphological studies on some pollinators in newly reclaimed land

Abstract: General survey of insect pollinators of Egyptian clover, alfalfa and squash was made at Shark El-Bohairat, North Sinai Governorate during 1983 and 2984 seasons except Alfalfa was during 1984 oonly. Also general survey of insect pollinators of alialfa and .soya bean was made at Salhia, Ismailia Governorate during the same period.
Hourly and weekly activities of true bees were measuzed and discused in relation to environmental conditions. Also some morphological studies on Nomioides variepata ( OL. ) adult were made.
The results of this work showed that, genera Nomioiaes Andrena and Menachile were very important pollinators of Egyntian clover, while genera Nomioides and Ceratina were important pollinators of Alfalfa. Genus Nomioides was in the first position of squash polination. Honey bee was very important pollinator of soya bean.
The daily activity of true bees generally was conde about ll a.m. to l p.m., while the peak of weekly activity of true bees was about the second half of blooming season.
