Management of Thrips tabaci (LIND) on onion and garlic fields and it's relation with spread inside neighbouring cotton fields

Abstract: Cotton and onion thrips Thrips tabaci (Lind) can be managed in Garlic and Onion fields by hand hoeing of weeds two times during the season and spraying of (Caple-2- ,+ Micronized sulpher) or by neem extract. The effect of Thrips Tabaci, and weed management was monitored by weekly counted on Garlic and Onion, which induces the new infestation in neighbor cotton fields. The investigation was conducted at seds district Beni-Suef Governorate during 2004-2005 seasons.
The results obtained indicated that successful weed management and spray with Mixture of (Caple-2- + Micronized sulpher) or by neem extract in the proper time in Garlic and Onion fields early in the season had significant effect on reduction of infestation. Also, another good benefit achieved for the sake of minimize pollution in our environment on neighboring cotton fields.
