Use of biological control agents for controlling certain stored product insects on wheat grains wheat flour in Egypt

Abstract: The effect of indirect treatments (outside bags) of wheat grains and wheat flour with the T. evanescens: B. bassiana, T. evanescens and B. bassiana was studied on insect population and percentage weight loss of stored grains due to infestation with C. cephalonica, E kuehniella and P. interpunctella in Qalubia and Menoufia governorates during 2006 and 2007 seasons .
Results showed that percentage weight loss of both wheat grains and wheat flour was positively correlated with insect population and storage period. Insect population and percentage weight loss of both wheat grains and wheat flour were significantly reduced in treated bags of wheat grains and wheat flour (release or spray) with the T. evanescens: B. bassiana, T. evanescens and B. bassiana during storage period extended to 6 months in comparison with untreated bags.
