Insecticidal activity of two strains of Bacillus thuringiensis var. sandiego by three bioassay methods against the bollweevil anthonomus grandis (Boh.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

Abstract: Two formulations of Bacillus Thuringiensis (B.t.) var. Sandiego solid and aqueous were tested by three bioassay methods against the larvae and adults of the bollweevil, Anthonomus Grandis (Boh.). Toxicity of the two strains were in similar against larvae. The aqueous formulation also had greater concentrations of the toxin than the powder formulation. Incorporating the B.t. Sandiego into the diet was the best method to bioassay its activity against the bollweevil.
