Abstract: The black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon, is considered one of the major pests in Qena Governorate causing severe damage for vegetables and field crops. This work had been done to clarify generation and prediction possibility of adult cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Hufn.) in relation to thermal unit accumulations in Qena Governo¬rate. Results revealed that, winter months harboured the highest activity of A. ipsi¬lon than autumn and spring months, respectively. However, summer months showed the lowest activity of this insect during the two studied years. Black cut¬worm had 3 generations in Qena district. The first generation started during the second half of October. The second generation started at the end of January or the first week of February and the third generation started during the second half of April. Also, It could be predict the adult peaks by using mean thermal-units accu¬mulation. This prediction is very important and contribute in determination the proper time for chemical control.
