The role of different neighboring hosts on population growth of spider mites on cotton plants.

Abstract: A field experiments were carried out at Ashmoun region, El-Menofia Governorate to study the effect of neighboring plants hosts, Okra, marrow, cucumber, clover, wheat and maize and without hosts (dust road) on the population density of the two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch on cotton leaves. The results indicated that the cultivation of cotton fields beside (marrow and cucumber and maize) as neighboring hosts and dusty road can increase mites abundnace on the cotton leaves. So, these habitats must be avoided beside the cotton fields.
