Rabbit production under poluted environmental conditions: 3. effect of electromagnetic waves pollution on rabbits performance and its alleviation using propolis during growing period

Abstract: One experiment was designed to evaluate 300 growing New Zealand White(NZW) rabbits performance aged 30 days as affected by electro magnetic waves (EMW) pollution ranged 35-45 Micro Teslas and its alleviation using propolis (100 g/ton). All animals were divided into three experimental groups. The first group was kept untreated, while the 2nd and 3rd groups were exposed to EMW only or exposed to EMW and treated with propolis, respectively.
Results revealed that, each of daily body weight gain, feed conversion, mortality rate, internal organs weights, some enzymes indicated liver activity and lipid in blood serum and in brain of growing rabbits exposed to electro magnetic waves recorded deleteriously significant.
Results showed that, supplementing 100 gm Propolis/ ton diet of rabbits exposed to electro magnetic waves induced a significant improvement in all parameters studied, but the improvements were also significantly lower than those of control group.
