The relationship between the immune response and hormonal balance in chiken

Abstract: This study was carried out at poultry production Department, Animal production research institute, by cooperation with laboratory biotechnology, department of animal production, faculty of agriculture, Cairo university.
The purpose of this study was the evaluation of Immune competence of divergently selected Fayoumi chicken (Fourth generation) against SRBC'S, through studying the hormonal Immunity as well as the cell-mediated immunity. Also evaluating the effect of Immune responses on the hormonal balance within the chicken.
200 Chicks of Fourth generation of divergently selected against SRBC's were used at one day age. At 8 week - age, the chicks were Injected with SRBc's & Saline.
Then the blood samples were drawn at 0, 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 & 24 h and also at 3, 7 & 10 days. Where the Ab titer was evaluated at 3, 7 & 10 days to measure the primary hormonal Immune Response. Use level of hormone (T3 & Cs) was evaluated at all Sampling times.
The Secondary hormonal Immune response & associated hormonal changes were evaluated for the same chicks at 12 weeks of - age, where the blood samples were drawn by the same schedule followed during primary response. The results revealed that the high line produced larger Ab titer than low line moreover there were no significant differences. In hormones level (T3 & CS) bet. high & law lines during both primary & secondary hormonal response.
The second experiment was conducted using 120 chicks at 8 weeks of age to evaluated the cell - mediated Immunity within the selected lines against SRBc's. where the chicks were Injected using PHA.P & Saline. In the skin of wattles whose thickness was measured at 0,3,6,9,12 & 24h after Injection. Also the associated hormonal changes were evaluated at same times. The results revealed were the high line produced greater thickness of wattle than low line. Additionally there were no significant differences of hormones (T3 & CS) bet. High & low lines.
