Study on causal bacteria of diarrhoea in kids

Abstract: Fifty two rectal swabs of diarrhoeic kids were subjected to bacteriological examination; Results revealed the isolation of Clostridium perfringens, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella spp., Citrobacter spp. and Yersinia enlerocolitica with an incidence of 100 % 69.2%, 23.0%, 19.2 %, 11.5% and 3.8 % respectively. The toxigenic types of C. perfringens were recovered in a higher rate (80.77 %) than the non toxigenic ones (19.23 %). Among the toxigenic type A was the most prevalent type followed by type D and B with an incidence of 42.30 %, 19.23 % and 11.54 % respectively. Serological identification of E. coil isolates revealed that they belonged to serogroups 01, 0157, 0128, 0164, 078, 0127, 0119, 055, 015 and 0126. All isolates were highly sensitive to enrofloxacin and chloramphenicol. On the other hand, the bacteriological examination o feeds revealed the isolation of Staphylococcus aureus while E. coli (01) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa serogroup (J) were recovered from drinking water, the coliform count was 5.5 X 102/100 ml. In conclusion, the kids diarrhoea as field problem is caused by multifactors including the interaction between bacteria and the error in feeding and drinking water indicates contamination on the farm from hygienic point of view.
