Isolation of mycoplasmas from buffaloes in Egypt

Abstract: A systematic study of the mycoplasma flora, especially of the respiratory and urogenital tracts of Egyptian Buffaloes ( Bubalis bubalis ) was carried out. Nine media and both direct and indirect culturing methods were applied. Mycoplasmas were isolated from pneumonic lungs (11.9%) and their associated mediastinal lymph glands, ( 4.7 %) but not from apparently normal lungs.
Mycoplasmas were recovered from female and male genitalia of living animals.
