Mycoplasma isolated from man, animals and birds in Egypt

Abstract: Member of the Order Mycoplasmatales have been isolated from various systems of man, farm and laboratory animals or domestic birds in Egypt. Some of these microorganisms were associated with serious outbreaks such as Contagious bovine and caprine pleuropneumonia in cattle or goats, and chronic respiratory disease and infectious sinusitis in chicken or turkeys.
A large scale biochemical characterization and serological identification of isolates recovered from man, animals and birds indicated the occurrence of 18 Mycoplasma and 5 Acholeplasma species.
